He's only 26 years old, but Alexis Alliaud has already established himself at Galland. A quality technician, he oversees every step of the manufacturing process with a keen eye for detail and a holistic vision of the product.
Based in Anglade, near Blaye, Alexis Alliaud joined Galland a year and a half ago. A graduate in mechanical engineering and QHSSE, he has already worked in demanding industrial environments such as UNAC, a manufacturer of railway excavators and military vehicles. At Galland, he found what he was looking for: diversity, responsibility, and a structure on a human scale.
A cross-functional profession, at the heart of production challenges
“My job is to ensure that every product, at every stage of its manufacture, meets quality requirements.”, he summarizes. Alongside Karine Bellet, his manager, he ensures reception control, in-process checks, management of non-conformities and their possible transmission to suppliers. He also designs control ranges for operators so that they too have precise and accessible verification tools. "This precaution prevents us from any deviation in the process which would force us to restart the entirety of a non-compliant production."
“It’s diversity that interests me.”
A mission that requires a good knowledge of Galland products: “They are varied and often manufactured in small series. But it is precisely this diversity that interests me. I am called upon to work on parts as different as a nut or an extruded aluminum rail.”
Another strong point of his position is contact with all departments: “I work with the design office, the methods office, purchasing, the warehouse, supplies… Working in quality is a real opportunity to get to know all the aspects and employees of the same company.”
Increased demands with international
It is also a responsibility: “A non-compliant product poses a risk to users. We must never forget that.” recalls the technician. With the opening of Galland internationally, the level of requirement rises another notch: “For some customers, factory receptions (FAT) are organized in person or for international customers, by video, where they see us handling the products live in order to check the conformity of the products according to the specifications.”
Learn and improve
Alexis Alliaud envisions himself continuing his career at Galland and one day becoming a quality manager. In the meantime, he appreciates the company's family atmosphere and continues to train: “Before coming here, I knew nothing about overhead lines! Today, I’m happy to work on technical, niche products, with always new things to come out with and knowledge to acquire.”
