At the request of the Indian Railways, Galland has designed an aluminium modular cargo system (MCS) with an innovative design. Presented at the Innotrans exhibition in Berlin, this set was a great success. It is now being marketed.
The MCS or Modular Arming System is located between the pole and the conductors. In the shape of a jib, it keeps the catenary in its position. When Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) of New Delhi asked Galland for an MCS design, the specifications were clear: imposed aluminum tube dimensions (70 mm and 55 mm diameters) and the possibility of manufacturing the system locally, in India, at a competitive cost. Our design office took up the challenge!
2 simple extruded parts
To minimize part weight, simplify maintenance and reduce manufacturing costs, we were able to design an aluminum MCS with only two fasteners.
These parts, made by extrusion, fit together and fit on the 70 mm and 55 mm tubes. The MCS plans were then entrusted to Atlantic, based in India, which has been working closely with the Commercial and R&D departments of Galland for over 6 years.
Once the patent was filed, Galland presented the MCS at the Innotrans Berlin trade fair in September 2022. This system received excellent feedback and the first orders are being processed. Variants for the Swiss and Moroccan markets are already being created.
