GALLAND's mission is to provide solutions for catenaries, whether conventional, high-speed or intended for urban transport. Since 1946, our expertise accumulated in the railway sector has positioned us as specialists on the market. This specialization is the result of many hours of research and study, carried out in close collaboration with our customers. Today, the technical complexity of the railway and tramway markets requires a strong commitment. GALLAND continues to meet this requirement thanks to its daily investment in quality, innovation and service.
Our reason for being
Created at the end of the war to free the French Railways from coal, Galland SAS is now expanding its purpose: helping to decarbonize transport worldwide. To this end, our teams are constantly innovating to design and manufacture catenary systems:
- of quality and therefore durable
- lightweight, therefore easy to install
- limiting the time and cost of construction sites
- of a simple design avoiding visual pollution and allowing insertion into the urban landscape
In large parts of the world, our sales teams are helping to develop more space- and environmentally friendly modes of urban and interurban transport.

History
History of the company Galland
1946
Creation by Jacques Galland and Maurice Trêve of the original company “Jacques Galland SARL”, initially located in Paris rue Daumesnil in an SNCF hangar, then at Choisy-le-Roi in a former suburban villa
1947
Design by Maurice Trêve and patent filing of the principle of the first catenary section insulator.
1952
Electrification of the Paris-Lyon line with Galland section insulators.
1955
Speed record of 331 km/h in the Landes with Galland equipment.
1961
Creation of Fonderies et Ateliers du Bélier in Vérac for the manufacture of catenary foundry parts. Joint venture in India for the local production of SNCF catenaries.
1975
Introduction of the IS 211625, the first lightweight and compact fiberglass section insulator for the new TGV lines.
1981
Speed record of 380 km/h on the TGV South-East with Galland equipment.
1990
Speed record of 513.5 km/h for the 325 train of the TGV Atlantique with Galland equipment.
1994
Inauguration of the tunnel under the Manche, equipped with equipment specially designed by Galland (compact and resistant to marine corrosion). First Chinese high-speed line equipped with Galland equipment: section insulators, anchor parts, specific return arms.
2003
Transfer of activity from the Choisy-le-Roi site to La Lande-de-Fronsac, development of our industrial tool.
2007
Speed record of 574.8 km/h on the TGV Grand Est line with Galland equipment.
2016
Creation of a distribution subsidiary in China: Galland Catenay Suzhou Co. Ltd.
