Galland is about to celebrate its 75th anniversary. 75 years of a family history that began in 1946 in a suburban property in Choisy-le-Roi (Val de Marne-France).
"My grandfather, a Master Mechanic in the Navy, was a wild inventor. During the Great War, he stopped the battleship on which he was serving in the middle of the sea to test a torpedo control device. Returning to civilian life, he became a ceramicist, then a designer of electrical insulators, and participated in the design of the first catenary of the French Railway.
As an officer is concerned about the men he sends up the mast, it is by imagining the work of the workers sent to the top of the posts that he designed his pieces: light, easy to assemble and indestructible,” explains Philippe Galland, President of Galland SAS.
This simplicity in the design and assembly of catenary parts is part of the company's DNA. Just like the ambition to develop internationally: "In 1964, my father, Jacques Galland, was already in India at the instigation of the SNCF to open a first subsidiary" recalls Philippe Galland.
Under the combined leadership of Denis Galland (Philippe's brother) and Philippe d'Huy, Galland has increased its presence on international markets. The company now offers 70 % of its products for export: Northern Europe, Maghreb countries, China, – India… The Galland adventure continues.
