Alexandre Carraro: "Human contact is irreplaceable"

Technical sales representative since 2022, Alexandre Carraro draws on 15 years spent in workshops in production and then in quality, to support customers with a rare mastery of Galland products.

Alexandre Carraro, 39, built his career on the job, through interaction with colleagues, trainers, partners, and those who knew best and taught him. Joining the company in 2007 as a temporary worker, he was simply looking for a job. He eventually worked his way up through the entire production chain before becoming a key player in the sales department. To gain experience, he rotated through all the production areas and acquired a precise understanding of the parts. After ten years, he considered leaving to dedicate himself to wakeboarding, a hobby that had become a passion and for which he had earned his instructor certification. But he accepted management's offer: a position in the quality department. For five years, he oversaw incoming goods, monitored manufacturing processes, and approved finished products, further developing his technical expertise.

In 2022, Galland expanded its sales team and offered him the opportunity to join. «A new challenge is not to be refused! In the business development department, I started with tramway maintenance to consolidate my field experience, then I took charge of client accounts such as ETF, Alstom and some border countries such as Belgium (Drugmand & Meert) or Luxembourg (CFL).».

The cross-functional approach that Alexandre Carraro has cultivated throughout his career at Galland allows him to work effectively with each of the company's departments: he moves daily between the design office, purchasing, production, quality control, and sales administration. His role is to propose the most suitable technical solution, taking into account the specific characteristics of each network. “You need to take the time to listen and understand the customer. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of terminology. For example, what we call the ‘runners replacement set’ for a section insulator, others call it ‘skis’. Nothing replaces meeting the customer on site to understand their methods and requirements, and to learn from their feedback” And when the feedback is good – «"Galland products are robust, reliable, and known for their durability."» – Promoting in-house technology is a pleasure. «"I am always proud to present the AERO, our "Oleopneumatic tensioning device, because it is a unique piece on the market, and it can be connected to the monitoring system developed by Galland. It’s a solution that opens the way to a next-generation catenary.”

A focus on international growth

Next step for this motivated sales engineer? International. «"I'm continuing my English training to feel comfortable at trade shows abroad, like InnoTrans. In 10 years, I still see myself in sales, but on a more international scale."» A desire to continue the adventure, reinforced by the planned expansion of the factory and the current momentum of Galland.
