Benoit Aymard: “Working at GALLAND is a no-brainer”

If someone had told him one day that he would join GALLAND to stay there and climb the ladder to become deputy head of the design office, Benoit Aymard would not have believed it. He is not the type to make plans for the future. Even if, for this grandson of a railway worker, a career with a major player in the overhead lines sector makes sense.

At 35 years old, Benoit Aymard has already had a 15-year career at GALLAND. "I entered through the back door, during an internship as part of my DUT in materials science and engineering. I am a pure GALLAND product and I am proud of it: my grandfather was a railway worker and my father did a series of small summer jobs at the SNCF when he was young. Mr. d'Huy, who brought me into the company, guided me in this profession. For me, GALLAND is a bit like family. In any case, it's obvious."

A central part of the machine

Now deputy head of the design office, this native of Bordeaux has seen the company structure itself over the years: "When I arrived there were two of us in this department, now there are five of us. And that's not too many to carry out our many missions.". In fact, the design office is a central part of the GALLAND machine: it produces the industrial designs of the products, the plans, and keeps the ERP (the inventory management software, the common thread between customers, suppliers and the workshop) up to date.
Its R&D unit creates new products for customers and to feed the GALLAND catalog. Technical support for sales representatives, it guides them in the choice of equipment to offer to the customer.

“AERO is my baby”

Precisely, what Benoit Aymard prefers is to invest in business monitoring and relations with the commercial fleet on current projects. "I specialized in AERO, the oleopneumatic device. It's kind of my baby. I participated in several on-site installations of this product in Poland, Portugal, Bulgaria, etc. And these trips brought me a lot. Today I want to get closer to the field, in particular to impose the monitoring that we developed on AERO: a device equipped with sensors that can recover information on tension, effort, pressure… We have just developed the 2th version: it is an asset to develop the product and reach a new level of satisfaction in customer needs”.
