During the first week of October, Axel Debias and Matthias Bec travelled to Indonesia. The purpose of the mission was to supervise the installation of a section insulator on the network of the “Commuter Yogyakarta Solo” belonging to the national operator PT KERETA API INDONESIA. This long-distance trip was marked by a special character since it was our first step into this dynamic market.
Indonesia has embarked on an ambitious infrastructure policy and has recently inaugurated major projects, such as the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail line. These initiatives aim to make up for lost time, with a particular focus on Jakarta, the 4th most populated city in the world with nearly 35 million inhabitants. This policy has given rise to three new urban networks in the capital, with extension projects already underway. Other regions have not been excluded, with large-scale studies in this archipelago of 17,000 islands.
It was on one of these new networks, the "Commuter Yogyakarta Solo", in the west of the island of Java that we went. First, we provided training to the local installer's teams, then we supervised the installation of our section insulator reference JG2178. For the occasion, it had been the subject of a co-development between the Indonesian railways and our Design Office to meet local regulatory requirements.
The installation and commissioning was so successful that users are now considering equipping the entire Yogyakarta Solo network with our section insulators.
Excellent news is emerging with the birth of this partnership between Indonesian railways and GALLAND.
